ELFPIIIIIIIRES

I keep wishing we’d got more information about the San’layn.

I mean, I love what we do get about Valanar and Keleseth. Just from their quest text alone, you learn:

-They’re brothers

-They care about each other a great deal

-They’re quite high-up on the chain of command (Kel is in charge of the whole of Howling Fjord—from Utgarde, as we learn later)

-They respect you and enjoy working with you (Kel greets you with ‘hail’, entrusts you with what appears to be his very favourite set of sharp pointy things, and is generally very amiable; Val PRACTICALLY SQUEES after you cannonpwn the Scarlets, gets all excited about the prospect pf Arthas being happy about this, and says he’ll make damn sure that the boss knows who was responsible for the explosions and chaos)

For a pair of guys on the evil side of the fence, they’re certainly a lot nicer to deal with than some of the player’s alleged allies!

So we know quite a bit about them, but there’s still a lot of mystery surrounding them. When Arthas sends you to go dragonbomb everybody, Kel and Val are there—they’re standing in magic circles, Kel on the left and Val on the right. Obviously these two are quite important to Arty. But we don’t get any more information than that.

Kel and Val are also at the resurrection of Arugal—though another Prince, Theraldis, is put in charge of this. There are four elfpires here in total—Kel, Val, Theraldis, and another prince called Atherann whom we see here only, and we never see him again. Theraldis is one of very few who call Arthas ‘Arthas’; Kel is the other (when he comes to go nyah-nyah at Anselm at Howling Fjord). Theraldis is only at the resurrection ceremony as well. He and Atherann are the most informationless. You can't even really deduce much from their dialogue as you can from the others.

There are four more princes left now—Tenris Mirkblood, Sandoval, Navarius and Taldaram. Tal makes his debut in Ahn’Kahet, but we don’t know exactly what he’s doing there. Some manner of ritual, it seems. (He’s one of the spookier bosses in WoW, seeing as he actually bites people—he’ll emote, vanish, then reappear and pin a PC to the ground and make them into a hemoglobin slurpee.) He returns for the trio-fight in ICC with Kel and Val.

Navarius is in Zul’Drak doing very bad things—among them trapping the spirit of a fallen paladin in this world, abducting and experimenting on a couple of hapless dwarves, and turning storm giants into crazy-ass constructs like THAT GIANTASS MOFO THRYMM. Nav, like a lot of the more free-willed Scourge ops, does not give a damn about the living. He does, however, care for his creations. Apart from that, we don’t know much about him. He’s the Science Guy, and a significant threat, but we only see him in Zul’Drak.

Sandoval shows up to throw down at the player in Valhalas. he speeches very well! And—we don’t know a lot about him aside that he’s eloquent, he is REALLY devoted to Arthas, and he likes fire.

Last but certainly not least is Tenris. He was in Karazhan during the Scourge Rush Kekekekeke event, and he has a tiny pet bat and THE ARCANITE RIPPER. We don’t know why he was there besides his having been sent there. Maybe he provided dinner music for the guests in the dining hall, or performed at the operas? ...That is possibly the best mental image ever...

The Darkfallen as a group intrigue the hell out of me because they’re a hint at how vindictive Arthas can get. The Queldorei-turned-Sin’dorei were one of the most massive thorns in his side when he was trying to get up to Ner’zhul, so what does he do? Convert one of their strongest warriors (Lana’thel, who almost kicked his ass) into a vampire and have her nom a few choice badasses and make them generals in his army.

I do like them and I enjoy writing about them, but I wish they’d been more developed in-game. The Quel’Delar sequence is awesome, and I mean—the Crimson Halls-it’s a B’ELF HAREM. But—yeah.

WANT MOAR ELFPIRE INFO PL0X

...I should do a post about my extensive headcanoning for Keleseth, Taldaram, Navarius and Sandoval. Kyl has some fab headcanon stuff for Valanar and Tenris as well, which is what got me started in the first place XD

Don't call me Arty.
