The lone female member of the unfortunate Emperor Vandole IX's infamous Four Emperors, Fanha often plays the role of 'oneechan' to her compatriots Sheex and Geshtar. Some days, she's more patient about this. Others, she wants to clunk their heads together. In the days of the Second Fortress Rising she served as the voice of reason to Thanatos as well - something of a difficult and thankless job. Doubly so considering she fell in battle and the effort to merge the Makai and the common plane failed. Fanha is, however, not bitter or angry about the failure of that endeavour. She considers it a sort of crucible or trial, and she's grateful to have come out of it alive.
Since that time she has been very protective of Geshtar and Sheex, whom she knows were needlessly manipulated and sacrificed - Geshtar especially, who was the victim of his lord's bizarre whims and lost magics. In spite of this betrayal, Fanha can't bring herself to fully mistrust or hate Thanatos. After all, her mother saw his decline, and her clan's knowledge of the person he used to be before the Glabados hootenanny's heresies took root makes her aware that he is a very damaged being. This doesn't excuse his being horrid, but does explain a lot.
Conversely, she finds it difficult to place any trust at all in humans (whom she sees as suspicious and prejudiced at best and hatefully violent at worst) or the Light Gods (whom she's certain abandoned the Mazoku in their hour of need out of hatred or indifference) with the sole exception of Aldur. As well, Fanha's biological mother was mentally unstable, violent, paranoid, and abused her children. It was only through the intervention of the Naaga Queen Anithe that she and her sisters survived. As a result of this, Fanha's trust is difficult to win and keep, and if she is betrayed, more often than not she won't be seen again by the person who sinned against her. Thanatos is truly the only exception to this rule. Out of honour and gratitude, she continues to act as a knight in his service.

The seventh son of the Kyohou clan of dryad shinobi, Sheex is...not what one would expect when picturing a ninja. He's loud, he can be crass, he talks to himself, he claims to have no fewer than seventy-six nicknames for what's in his pants, and he tends to spam the Burst spell rather than doing anything shinobi-like. Even so, underestimate him at your own risk. He may have lost his life during the Second Fortress rising (this on account of his trying to assume his full mazoku form without ever having done this before - the result was the Aegagropilon, an enormous Xorn marimo creature) but he was much less experienced then.
Now able to assume his 'power-up' form properly, he's even more a force to be reckoned with. He retained his ability to control particular people by hiding in their shadows (there are limitations to this - some people are immune) and improved on it, as well as raising the power of his magic by more than a few levels. His swordsmanship has vastly improved, as has his aim with thrown weaponry. And he's more than happy to demonstrate this on enemies! Or just brag about it if one asks.
Much like Fanha, Sheex serves his somewhat-unstable lord out of a sense of honour ("You thought ninja didn't have it? Ha ha, newb!") and an obligation. after all, without Thanatos's intervention his people would long ago have been wiped out. Being the result of a union between a man of the Mana tribe and a Shade-born mazoku woman, the Kyohou clan were seen as abominations by the outside world for the most part (thought not so by Mazoku and Fae - races gifted with intense empathy have trouble ignoring the emotions and souls of their enemies, and this factor is what kept the conflict between these two races from exploding into a full-out war). Even so, some remained in the common realms. When a particular region under the noble Granz house's reign began actively persecuting any Mana-tribal people, the last of the Kyohou tribe fled behind the gates to the Makai, turning their back on the common realm once and for all.
In spite of this Sheex has no real dislike for humans. He's prone to nicking in and out of the Makai via corridors and using glamours to hide his ears and eyes so he can pass among humans. As of late, though, his vacations have stopped, and his time is devoted to serving the Superior, whom he's bound out of loyalty to aid even if he thinks the current scheme is really stupid and bound to end badly.

The least-fortunate of Thanatos's three generals, Geshtar has seen and experienced some of the worst aspects of his lord's personality. Even so, he serves the god, and not only because he's bound to and feels he owes him a debt of gratitude. When Thanatos began to inflict Geshtar with bizarre curses to punish him for disloyalty (being summoned by Vandole IX, Geshtar couldn't in good conscience simply turn on the man and kill him - and he feared the result of raising the Fortress, to boot), Geshtar was via this mana influx suddenly privy to the god's true thoughts and motivations. Far from being a simple megalomaniac bend on subjugating the common realms, Thanatos was passionately seeking something - and seeking it for reasons that Geshtar doesn't dare discuss.
As a result of the curse that bound him to his hoverbike and essentially made him and the machine one perfectly-loyal, barely-aware being, Geshtar has an alchemical prosthetic left arm and right leg. While these on occasion stiffen up in reaction to bizarre mana currents (usually set off by Thanatos's strange thaumatological antics), they do not by any means slow him down. Never mistake Geshtar for an invalid. He possesses the same capacity to toy with shadows as does Sheex, though to a lesser extent; this has simply moved him to be more creative with the power he DOES have. He rarely uses offensive magic, preferring to augment his bike and himself with beneficial spells. If deprived of his bike he is happy to fight physically, and is very much capable of doing so. Many an enemy has thought him- or herself victorious when Geshtar's left arm is off (the prostheses are not unlike Sydney Losstarot's mythril limbs), and been sadly mistaken!
His attitude toward humans is one of vague distrust and distaste. As a boy he was stranded in the common realms for a time and during his travels in search of a functional Gate (he had not yet learned to open a Corridor) he saw some of the uglier sides of human people and that coloured his perceptions of them. While he doesn't doubt there are good humans out there, he tends to be standoffish. As for his relationship with the Light Gods, he doesn't rightly care one way or the other, though he does respect Chrystalis as a source of the life of Mazoku. He is currently very concerned for her welfare, as her death will profoundly shift the nature of mana itself and thus have a considerable impact on the lives of the Fae, Mazoku, Sprites and Elves.
Further, Geshtar believes he has guessed at Thanatos's endgame, and knows well the extent of his lord's creativity. He is certain that if Thanatos gets what he wants, the web will fall to him with little to no resistance. After all, what use is it sending a mechanical armour after a man who can simply make the machine (whether it runs on mmana-power or not matters utterly nothing) and its pilot one and the same, and loyal to him alone? What hope do aging heroes have against a god who possesses the power of two or even three - or MORE? In short, Geshtar's outlook is bleak, and he hopes that this latest ploy will fail. Though he dislikes humanity, he would not wish the fate he suffered on any other being.
