DISCLAIMER: I really do not have any big emotional investment in which characters people like or don't. So please, PLEASE spare me the big defensive screeds about why you dislike a character :D;; I don't care. Since I'm not the type who evangelizes about characters, there's no need to act as if I do. I'm WELL AWARE of characters' flaws - even the flaws of characters I like (I'd better damn well be, a lot of them are antags) and I have no use for tinfoil-hat fanon ideas about the causes of certain Reload spoilers.

What Sanzo did was his choice. The kansai bishop just imitated a baby duck at him. Sanzo would have rather been alone. He only deals with Hazel because Hazel can help him locate someone he wants to punch. There is textual proof of this, not the least of which is Sanzo's 'schmeh, whatever' reaction to Hazel's flaily 'slow down' request. I'm more than happy to back up my claims with the text. And text trumps precious fanon crackpot pet theories and foolish claims.

So I don't have a ~*bias*~ against people who do or don't like Hazel. I am well aware that the kid's a punkass brat (and Minekura makes NO BONES about portraying that)! I'm simply a fact-hound. XD

OKAY ON WITH THE LUNACY -

I noticed the other day something kind of funny, and it was this: some of Hazel's really vocal detractors (I mean the type who believe everyone online must know and be constantly reminded that they don't like that guy) talk about him the same way that obnoxious shippers talk about female characters who break up/'get in the way of'/are part of the rival ship to their OTP.

Like, it's the exact same - rhetoric? I don't know if that's the word I'm looking for. Phrasing, at any rate.

Hazel gets talked about like he was a woman 'in the way' of a pairing.

I thought that was kind of interesting. Like, I know WHY it is - it's because he's "feminine" (oh, I could get into SUCH a tangent about how masculine/feminine are arbitrary designations XD). So he doesn't get the same 'pass' as most male characters and pairing wonks squawk about him like they do about, say, Yaone or something.

It's the first time I've seen something like that. I know it's probably happened BEFORE, but this is just the first time I've seen it in action. Usually, male characters are not referred to as skanky homewreckers. XD

(And that just goes to show how out of touch sexist fangirls are - if anyone's a skanky homewrecker in the series it's Banri. *tongue in cheek* He even breaks the door. XD)
