THESE ARE BLOODY GORGEOUS.
I love FF12's Esper designs anyhow, but something about the crest marks just amazes me. I love icon and logo type stuff and I nerd at semiotics anyhow and the fact that the designer managed to get these things to 'read' as their espers in pure black and white with very little outline is epic. I mean if I could REMEMBER half the poor guys' names half the time I could identify them all, I'd wager.
Off the top of my head, NOT LOOKING AT THE LEGEND THEY WROTE UP ON THE IMAGE XD and clockwise from the top - Famfrit, Chaos, Cuchulainn, Exodus (Exdeath), Shemhazai, Zeromus, Zalera, Ultima, Adrammelech (I keep forgetting his name and going BLARGH BLARGH BLARGH), Hashmal (Hashmalim), Mateus, Belias, and Zodiark in the middle.
FUCK yeah. No googling! I can remember all of them! Evil fucking laughter goes RIGHT HERE.
Anyhow, yeah. All but Adrammelech I could guess based on appearance. His is a little bit bizarre and I'm not quite sure how to parse his appearance into/from the crest mark.
I keep imagining these things as tattoos or something. XD And I keep picturing someone who has a bond with an esper having the crest show up on their arm or back or something (lolllllllllll too much fate/stay night hurf durf amirite).
I should flail more at the Kildean esper lore dorkery. Hell, I should just flail more at that universe. Kyl and I were rambling on Skype last night about the connection between the Kildean Assassin order and the VKP, which got brought up because I was trying to figure out why the hell the Rosencrantz in my noggin is missing his ring finger (reason: he's one of the last of the actual honest-to-frick Assassin order that ultimately got absorbed by the VKP - and as an aside it's kind of amusing to me that some of the spiritual aspects never quite went AWAY though a lot of them got unfortunately ignored at the risk of the VKP, most notably the Dangerous Criminal Task Force - and then LeSait started up with his stupid !key bullshit and it all got MUCH WORSE) - and the dork has that kind of pike-blade that Altaïr carries, too. He doesn't often use it but it's there.
