Yes, kinky relationships can be abusive. I have seen these relationships in action. The key thing is, ANY AND ALL RELATIONSHIPS can be abusive. I will never deny that people use kink as a means to be fuckers; of course they would, since abusers will use ANYTHING as a means to be fuckers. But proclaiming that all kink is abuse and harping on that alone is ignorant as hell and it detracts from the actual problem--namely, the goddamned abuse.

Don't use other people's suffering as an excuse to get on the soapbox about shit or push an agenda; I will kick that box out from under you so fast you would not BELIEVE...and then I will bite your knees repeatedly.

I will admit that, being of a generation/background that equated sexual pleasure with sin (while equating sexual "duty" i.e. reproduction as the only acceptable/mandatory sexual activity) .,. and kink, because it wasn't expressly supporting that duty and was about pleasure, was therefore triple ultra mega naughty/sinful/bad/diabolic ....

I found the kink_bingo comm and its wiki a revelation. The concepts there, ranging from the idea of playful and sweet kink, of RACK, of asexual kink ... it's a liberation in many senses.

Your background stuff is--familiar to me, I grew up Catholic and while my mom is extremely liberal my schools were not. (Ontario still has Catholic schools idk.) Sex was bad except for reproduction, women were not supposed to want or like sex, and BOY HOWDY was the virgin-fixation ever HUGE.

Add onto that some older relatives reading their own issues bad into my 'omg perils of pauline~' type sketchbook mini comics (which I really think they had no business just reading like it was theirs; I didn't go through THEIR things) when I was twelve (for reference, at twelve I was still thinking boys were grody, and the idea of sex was a huge joke...my late friend Iva once set me into an hour-long giggle fit and ferocious case of hiccups by saying 'so there's this store by my house called Henry's Do-It Centre!' when I was twelve) and you have a me terrified of my own desires for ages. I am STILL shaking off baggage from that.

I didn't really catch the clue-hacky-sack until university, where I met a bunch of really nice people who happened to be kinky and whose relationships were healthy and fun. It was like, OH LIGHTBULB DUDE I'M NOT WEIRD AND DERANGED!

So now I write cute kinky things with Death Knights in. And sometimes banshees (whose character assassinations i pointedly ignore because misogyny can kiss my butt). And sometimes paladins and elfpires. XD

A lot of them are pointform or a few sentences, I get ideas and jot things down in point form and work on them as the plotbunnies leap for my head XD;; This is why I've this ongoing nonsensefic with my OC Death Knight, and a one about my paladin doing his initiation (with the brazier and the ABRUPT ATTACKY GUY and all), and three sentences of Thassarian making pancakes for Koltira, and and and -- and nothing is done yet XD;

When it comes to my fic, my ADHD means logical order isn't XD

Yes, I do! Not as much as I'd like to, I hit a big slump/work overload for awhile (I restore antique maps and things, so I paint most of the day!) but I'm getting back in the saddle again slowly but surely.

and man that is exactly what it's like in re: shooting movies.

Yeah, it sounded like the way I tend to write too - I don't write linearly very often unless it's a big splargh of outpoured oneshot. ~ Most of the time I work on whatever scenes are the most vivid, and just toss whatever snips of dialogue float up into my Scrivener file until I figure out where they go.

Glad to hear you still draw - I think I have a fanart of yours somewhere from the SR/KG days.

ETA: Oo, that sounds like a cool job. Is it?

And yeah, it really is a neat job. Sometimes nerve wracking (maps that are 200+ years old omfg) but really cool.

My writing of Sylvanas is very much informed by my girlfriend's awesome portrayal of her (WC3/TFT/BC characterization), and also by IvoryTower's Sylvanas-talks-to-Bolvar. Cranky, sometimes kind of an asshole, but extremely compassionate and fiercely protective of her people.

This is why somehow Sylvanas/Agatha the Val'kyr happened. Ignoring the Cata BS, natch--basically Sylvanas adopts the Val'kyr who're more drawn to her than Bolvar, and Agatha is like "wait, what is this, I am confused here, I'm actually happy, WHAT DO?" And Koltira's like, "Uh. Tell Lady Sylvanas how you feel already, your wings are completely fluffed out and it looks absurd. Also you're shedding down on everything."

(Needless to say, she survives the Godfrey debacle, as does Sylvanas--no way one headshot is going to do jack, lol. And the idea of Godfrey flipping his shit over just-soaked-six-bullets-omfg Sylvanas who's advancing pissily (if unsteadily) on him is EPIC. I like tormenting NPCs~)
